WeGovy 1 Month Update
Our summary
Shay, who is in her early 30s and 5'2", shares a one-month update on using Wegovy. She says she went to a New York bariatric center to learn about VSG surgery, then decided to try weight loss medication first after a friend mentioned it. The center prescribed the drug after blood work at LabCorp and through her PCP. She says the labs showed high cholesterol and that she is pre-diabetic, which changed her view of her weight loss from a looks goal to a health need.

What else the video covers
She describes the process as she lived it. The center asked her to be on birth control and to provide a lab pregnancy test before starting. The pen is a weekly injection, and she needed someone else to give the first two weeks of doses before she could do it herself. She says she prefers the arm over the thigh, does not feel pain, and rotates sites. She injects on Fridays so any side effects would fall on the weekend. She reports no nausea, headache or fatigue so far on the lowest dose, and was starting the second, higher dose on the day of filming. She also says the drug has taken away her appetite completely, to the point that she sometimes forgets to eat.
She says she went from 189 pounds to 176 pounds in a month, which she states as both 13 and 12 pounds lost, with little exercise beyond about three miles of walking a day. She notes some jiggly skin on her legs and plans to start strength training in April. Her diet was light during Lent, with fish and no meat or bread. For month two she plans to meal prep, track calories with the MyPlate app, and keep up her water intake. She asks viewers to share their own experiences.

- Wegovy side effects, and why the top of the ladder is different
Wegovy's side effects are semaglutide's side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and constipation, worst in the first weeks and after each dose increase. What makes Wegovy different from Ozempic is not the molecule but the destination. Wegovy is dosed for weight management, climbing to 2.4 mg with a 7.2 mg high-dose strength above it, and dose is the main driver of how pronounced the gastrointestinal effects get. It also carries a boxed warning for thyroid C-cell tumour risk. One useful fact while you decide whether to push through: Novo's self-pay price is flat across every pen dose, so a slower climb costs a brand patient nothing.
- Wegovy 7.2 mg (Wegovy HD): what the higher dose adds, and what it costs
Wegovy HD is semaglutide at 7.2 mg, three times the standard 2.4 mg dose, in its own pen. In the STEP UP trial it took 18.7% off body weight at 72 weeks against 15.6% for 2.4 mg and 3.9% for placebo, in 1,407 adults with obesity. That puts it within 1.5 points of tirzepatide's head-to-head result and makes it the strongest semaglutide there is. Novo sells it direct for $399 a month, $50 above the standard pen, and it sits above the normal ladder rather than replacing it.
- Wegovy pill vs injection: the same semaglutide, two schedules, two price lists
The Wegovy pill and the Wegovy pen are the same drug, semaglutide. The pill is one tablet a day on an empty stomach with a little water; the pen is one injection a week at any time. Novo's cash price is $149 to $299 a month for the pill by strength and $349 for the pen. In separate placebo trials the top tablet dose and the pen produced similar average weight loss.
