Hims Stock Down -11% as GLP-1 Shortage Ends for Drug that Hims STILL DOESN'T SELL and NEVER SOLD!
Our summary
The creator of the Beat The Denominator channel says Hims stock fell 11% after the FDA moved tirzepatide off its drug shortage list, even though, according to the video, Hims does not sell tirzepatide and never has. He says many news articles, including ones from outlets not focused on finance, link Hims to the decision without checking what the company actually offers. He shows the FDA page where tirzepatide is marked resolved and semaglutide is still listed as in shortage, and says Hims sells compounded semaglutide.

What else the video covers
He explains that the FDA set a March 19 deadline for compounders of tirzepatide to stop. He compares the coverage to past stories about Tesla and says the stock reacts strongly to news cycles. He says he bought more Hims shares at 25 dollars that day. He also says weight loss is roughly 10% of Hims's business and that the company sells a lot of metformin and custom pills.
Looking ahead, he lays out a timeline for compounded semaglutide. If it leaves the shortage list, he expects compounders to appeal, which he says would take two to three months, followed by a three month wind-down. He estimates Hims could keep selling compounded semaglutide until about June 2025 in a worst case. He sees a once daily generic liraglutide, which Hims has said it expects to launch in early 2025, as the larger opportunity, and says he trusts the health and marketing teams to build a branded product around it. He states this is entertainment and not financial advice.

Questions this video answers
Why did Hims stock fall when the tirzepatide shortage ended?
According to the video, the stock fell 11% in sympathy with news coverage that linked Hims to the FDA decision. The creator argues this is a mistake because Hims does not sell tirzepatide and never did.
Does Hims sell compounded tirzepatide or semaglutide?
The creator says that on the Hims website the GLP-1 injections include compounded semaglutide and a branded option that is in shortage, but no compounded tirzepatide. He says semaglutide is still listed as in shortage by the FDA.
How long could Hims keep selling compounded semaglutide?
He estimates that if semaglutide leaves the shortage list, an appeal of two to three months plus a three month wind-down could allow sales until about June 2025. He calls that a worst case and says he does not know how the shortage will develop.
What is Hims's plan after compounded semaglutide?
He says Hims announced a once daily generic liraglutide, expected in early 2025. He expects the company to market it with plans and coaching, and notes he considers liraglutide less effective than semaglutide.

- Tirzepatide vs semaglutide: the head-to-head result, and what the better one costs
They were finally tested against each other. In SURMOUNT-5, 751 adults with obesity took the maximum tolerated dose of one or the other for 72 weeks: tirzepatide lost 20.2% of body weight, semaglutide 13.7%. That gap is real and it is the whole argument for tirzepatide. The other half of the decision is the bill: compounded tirzepatide runs from $85 a month on our board against $69 for semaglutide, and the branded gap is wider still.
- CagriSema: FDA decision due by the end of 2026, no price yet, and how it compares with Zepbound and Wegovy
CagriSema is not FDA-approved and has no price yet. Novo Nordisk filed it with the FDA on December 18, 2025 and expects a decision in the fourth quarter of 2026, with a full US launch at the start of 2027. In REDEFINE 1 it cut weight by 20.4% at 68 weeks, but head to head it trailed tirzepatide, 20.2% against 23.6%. Until it launches, compounded semaglutide starts at $69 a month on our board.
- Compounded tirzepatide: what it is, what FDA says now the shortage is over, and what it costs against Zepbound
Compounded tirzepatide is Zepbound's molecule made by a licensed pharmacy rather than Lilly, sold through telehealth programs from $85 a month on our board against Lilly's $299 to $699 ($449 on the KwikPen from 7.5 mg with on-time refills). It is not FDA-approved, and the legal ground under it has shifted: FDA says tirzepatide no longer appears on its shortage list, which was the condition that let pharmacies compound copies of an approved drug at scale. What remains is compounding for individual patients, FDA's list of specific concerns about how these products are dosed, shipped and labelled, and a price gap large enough that most cash buyers take the trade anyway. This page sets all of that out.
