8 Months on Zepbound: Weight Loss, Side Effects, Insurance Denial & Why I’m Switching to Wegovy
Our summary
Chase, a creator who documents her weight loss, covers about eight months on Zepbound in this video, mostly through weigh-ins and shot-day recordings. She says she started the stretch at 254.9 lb on May 3rd and ended the 7.5 mg period around 254.7 lb, with a month she calls her slowest because of graduation, events and a cruise. She describes burping and gas as her steady side effect, constipation that came and went, and dehydration with lightheadedness that her bariatric doctor tied to low water intake.
One person's experience, in their words. Not medical advice.

What else the video covers
In late June she says her doctor was hesitant but agreed to raise her from 7.5 mg to 10 mg. She reports dropping from 249.1 lb on June 28th to 244.9 lb on July 2nd, and says she felt full after two bites on the higher dose. She also describes a night of severe diarrhea after eating fried wings. Over four weeks on 10 mg she says she lost 6.6 lb, from 249.8 to 243.2 lb. She also shares injection tips, including rotating sites, letting the alcohol dry, and carrying the pen on a cruise in a cooler with an ice pack.
The second half covers insurance. She says her plan stops covering Zepbound on July 1st, that she paid $50 with insurance, and that a price check showed about $1,300 without it. She says her doctor's office could not get a prior authorization for Zepbound unless she first tried Wegovy, so she is switching, with a $24.99 prescription. She also promotes a compounded GLP-1 company and a hydration supplement as partnerships.

Our guides closest to what this video covers, with prices checked weekly.
- GLP-1 constipation, nausea, diarrhoea and fatigue: the label numbers, and what the labels say to do
The four gut effects are the four most common side effects of every GLP-1, and the labels put numbers on them. On Wegovy 2.4 mg: nausea 44%, diarrhoea 30%, constipation 24%, vomiting 24%, fatigue 11%, against 16%, 16%, 11%, 6% and 5% on placebo. On Zepbound at 15 mg: nausea 28%, diarrhoea 23%, constipation 11%, vomiting 13%, fatigue 7%. They cluster around dose increases, they are the reason 6.8% of Wegovy patients and up to 6.7% of Zepbound patients stopped, and both labels prescribe the same fix: climb slower.
- Zepbound side effects: the label's table by dose, who actually quits, and how it compares to semaglutide
Zepbound's label puts a number on every common side effect at each of its three maintenance doses. Nausea runs 25 to 29 percent against 8 on placebo, diarrhoea 19 to 23, vomiting 8 to 13, constipation 11 to 17. Across the two approval trials, 4.8 to 6.7 percent of people stopped the drug because of side effects, against 3.4 percent on placebo, and most of those who quit did so in the first months, from gut effects during dose escalation. Below that table are the rarer things the label warns about, with the trial rates where it gives them, and the honest comparison to Ozempic's table.
- Zepbound dosage chart: every tirzepatide dose, the escalation rule, what each rung lost in the trial, and what it costs
Zepbound has six doses, 2.5 to 15 mg, taken once a week. The label's rule is four weeks at 2.5 mg, then 2.5 mg steps with at least four weeks on each, to a maintenance dose of 5, 10 or 15 mg. In SURMOUNT-1 those three doses lost 15.0, 19.5 and 20.9 percent of body weight over 72 weeks. Direct from Lilly each rung has a price, $299 at 2.5 mg rising to $699 at 10 mg and above, so the chart below carries the dose, the rule, the trial result and the bill in one place, plus the vial and KwikPen concentrations for anyone measuring in units.
