12 LB WEIGHT LOSS MOUNJARO WEIGHT LOSS WEEK 1💥 Mounjaro Tirzepatide Weight Loss Journey

Patient storyCountess of Shopping55,726 views11:53Jan 2023

Our summary

In this video, the creator of the Countess of Shopping channel reports her first week on Mounjaro (tirzepatide) at 2.5 milligrams. She says she lost 12 pounds and was surprised by the number. She states that she is not a doctor and that this is not medical advice, only her own experience.

One person's experience, in their words. Not medical advice.

What else the video covers

She says the much-discussed drop in food noise did not happen for her. By her estimate it eased by about five percent, and she still thinks about food a lot, though she says she is not reaching for food as often and went into the late morning without eating. She lists what she credits alongside the drug: more protein, support from a free Mounjaro Facebook group she runs, and drinking more water, which she calls somewhat helpful. She also discusses the prescription process, noting that Mounjaro is approved for type 2 diabetes, that her insurance did not approve it until January 1, 2023, and that she has heard of supply shortages affecting dose availability.

She cautions against comparing numbers, saying she weighed herself at night at the start and in the morning later, and that she had been eating poorly the week before. She reports more energy, less tiredness and better sleep. She also had painful leg cramps for the first two nights, which she says Mounjaro's makers do not list as a side effect, and she attributes them to needing more electrolytes. She walks two miles and had no diarrhea or nausea. She hopes her doctor raises her to five milligrams in two weeks.

Questions this video answers

How much weight did she lose in week 1 on Mounjaro?

She says she lost 12 pounds in the first week on 2.5 milligrams. She adds that she weighed herself at night at the start and in the morning later, and had eaten a lot of salty, junk food the week before, so she says the number may not be comparable to others.

Did Mounjaro stop food noise in the first week?

According to the creator, it did not. She says it helped by about five percent at most, and she still thinks about food a lot as someone in recovery from food addiction, though she was not reaching for food as often.

What side effects did she have in week 1 on Mounjaro?

She says she had no diarrhea, nausea or intestinal problems. She did have leg cramps the first two nights, which she says Mounjaro does not claim as a side effect, and she thinks they came from needing more electrolytes.

What dose of Mounjaro was she on?

She says she was on 2.5 milligrams. She understands the dose steps up each month, expects five milligrams next, and mentions a friend who could not find a 7.5 milligram dose and had to go to 10 milligrams.

Our guides closest to what this video covers, with prices checked weekly.

  • Mounjaro for weight loss, and why Zepbound exists

Mounjaro is tirzepatide approved for type 2 diabetes. Zepbound is the same molecule from the same maker, approved for weight management, and it goes to the same 15 mg. So unlike Ozempic and Wegovy, there is no dose ceiling pushing you from one to the other: the reason people move is coverage and cash price, not strength. Using Mounjaro for weight is off-label and a prescriber's decision. In the one head-to-head trial, tirzepatide beat semaglutide, 20.2% mean body-weight loss at 72 weeks against 13.7%.

  • Mounjaro side effects: the label's numbers by dose, the low blood sugar risk, and how tirzepatide compares at weight-loss doses

On Mounjaro's own label, the common side effects are stomach ones and they rise with the dose: nausea in 12, 15 and 18 percent of people at 5, 10 and 15 mg against 4 percent on placebo, diarrhea 12 to 17 against 9, and any gastrointestinal reaction in 37 to 44 percent against 20. Most of it happens while the dose is being raised and fades. Low blood sugar is rare on Mounjaro alone and is mainly a risk when it is added to insulin or a sulfonylurea. Below: the full table, the rare warnings, and why Zepbound's numbers for the same molecule look higher.

  • Mounjaro vs Ozempic, and the trial everyone quotes about it

Mounjaro is tirzepatide and Ozempic is semaglutide: different molecules, not two brands of the same drug. Both are approved for type 2 diabetes, and the weight-loss versions are Zepbound and Wegovy. In the one head-to-head trial, SURMOUNT-5, tirzepatide produced 20.2% mean body-weight loss at 72 weeks against semaglutide's 13.7%. The detail almost every page omits: that trial dosed semaglutide to 2.4 mg in people without diabetes, which is the Wegovy range. Ozempic tops out at 2 mg. The famous result did not test Ozempic's dose range.
