Wegovy Month 1 at 458 lbs: Results and Side Effects
Our summary
Andy, who says he started at 458 lbs, describes his first month on Wegovy under a doctor's care in Sweden. He says he waited a month after getting medical approval so his habits were solid first: walks most days, two gym sessions a week, protein first, and fewer late snacks. He describes the medicine as a tool and the habits as the engine. He began at 1 mg once a week, injected at 9:00 a.m. in the belly.

What else the video covers
According to Andy, the first change was reduced food noise in week one, before any change in fullness. He says he kept finishing his plates through week two. In late week three he noticed sulfur burps and some gas, mostly in the evenings. He says smaller portions, not eating close to bedtime, eating slower, and a walk after dinner kept it manageable, and he reports no nausea, dizziness, or constipation. In week four he says fullness appeared: he stopped halfway through a large bowl of chili and saved the rest.
Andy reports losing 4 kilos, about 9 lbs, in the month, while crediting his habits more than the medication. He says he eats about 2,000 calories with 180 to 200 g of protein a day, walks nearly daily, and is doing 75 Soft. He notes some hungrier evenings after heavy gym days. On logistics, he says the prescription came through his regular doctor, the pharmacy needed about a week to a week and a half to fill it, and he paid full price with no reimbursement, roughly $250 per pen per week. For month two he says he has moved to 1.7 mg and is meal prepping exact portions. He stresses that this is his own experience and not medical advice.

- Wegovy side effects, and why the top of the ladder is different
Wegovy's side effects are semaglutide's side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and constipation, worst in the first weeks and after each dose increase. What makes Wegovy different from Ozempic is not the molecule but the destination. Wegovy is dosed for weight management, climbing to 2.4 mg with a 7.2 mg high-dose strength above it, and dose is the main driver of how pronounced the gastrointestinal effects get. It also carries a boxed warning for thyroid C-cell tumour risk. One useful fact while you decide whether to push through: Novo's self-pay price is flat across every pen dose, so a slower climb costs a brand patient nothing.
- Wegovy 7.2 mg (Wegovy HD): what the higher dose adds, and what it costs
Wegovy HD is semaglutide at 7.2 mg, three times the standard 2.4 mg dose, in its own pen. In the STEP UP trial it took 18.7% off body weight at 72 weeks against 15.6% for 2.4 mg and 3.9% for placebo, in 1,407 adults with obesity. That puts it within 1.5 points of tirzepatide's head-to-head result and makes it the strongest semaglutide there is. Novo sells it direct for $399 a month, $50 above the standard pen, and it sits above the normal ladder rather than replacing it.
- How long do Ozempic, Wegovy and Zepbound take to work? The label calendar and the trial timepoints
GLP-1s act from the first dose, but the labels start low on purpose and step up every 4 weeks, so most people do not reach a full dose for 3 to 5 months. Each dose reaches steady levels in the blood after about 4 to 5 weeks. In the trials, people averaged 10.6% weight loss after 20 weeks of Wegovy's escalation and 20.9% after 36 weeks of Zepbound, with the full trial results at 68 to 72 weeks. For type 2 diabetes, Ozempic's A1C results were measured at week 30.
