Patient storyKayla Love29,893 views33:21Jan 2026

Our summary

Kayla Love, a fashion and beauty creator who says she is not a doctor, describes how she lost over 60 lbs in about a year on a semaglutide medication. She explains her reasons for starting, including weight gain after college, a miscarriage and depression, and postpartum weight, and says she decided to start in May or June 2024. She says she got her medication through the online provider IVRX, and walks through the sign-up questionnaire, doctor review, shipping, and how she injects, usually in her lower stomach and alternating sides.

What else the video covers

She gives pricing as she understands it: $295 when she started, and now semaglutide from as low as $175 per month, with a first-month discount, package options, and her own affiliate coupon code. Her timeline starts at 0.5 mg, moves to 1.0 mg in month two, and later to 1.5 mg in 2025. She reports 184 lbs in October 2024, 174 lbs at the end of 2024, and a low of 150 lbs in May 2025. She says she took breaks in the second half of 2025, regained about 10 to 15 lbs, and plans to talk to her doctor about returning to 1 mg.

She lists the side effects she had: nausea, sulfur burps, food sitting in the stomach, hair loss, a stronger sense of smell, tiredness, and more severe stomach trouble with fried and oily foods at 1.5 mg. She also covers protein-focused eating, walking and weight training, reduced food noise, feeling full faster, and drinking less alcohol. Her closing tips are to use the medication as a tool while changing eating habits, eat protein early, drink water and electrolytes, stay consistent with doses, and restart at a lower dose after a long break.

Our guides closest to what this video covers, with prices checked weekly.

  • The best GLP-1 for weight loss, ranked by the evidence and then by the bill

By weight lost, the order is settled: tirzepatide (Zepbound) first at 20.2% in the only head-to-head, then semaglutide 7.2 mg (Wegovy HD) at 18.7%, then semaglutide 2.4 mg (Wegovy) at 13.7% to 15.6%, then the pills. By what you pay, the order nearly inverts: compounded semaglutide from $69 a month, the Wegovy tablet from $149, Wegovy pen $349, Zepbound $299 to $699 by dose. The best one is where those two lists meet for your budget and your plan.

  • Stopping a GLP-1: what the withdrawal trials found, and what a maintenance dose actually is

Two trials have measured what happens when you stop. On semaglutide, people who lost 17.3% over 68 weeks regained two-thirds of it in the year after stopping, ending 5.6% below where they started. On tirzepatide, people who lost 20.9% in 36 weeks regained 14% over the next year on placebo while those who continued lost a further 5.5%. Both labels are explicit that these drugs are for maintaining weight reduction long term, which is a different claim from finishing a course. A maintenance dose is simply the dose you stay on; the labels do not define a lower one to step down to at goal.

  • Wegovy 7.2 mg (Wegovy HD): what the higher dose adds, and what it costs

Wegovy HD is semaglutide at 7.2 mg, three times the standard 2.4 mg dose, in its own pen. In the STEP UP trial it took 18.7% off body weight at 72 weeks against 15.6% for 2.4 mg and 3.9% for placebo, in 1,407 adults with obesity. That puts it within 1.5 points of tirzepatide's head-to-head result and makes it the strongest semaglutide there is. Novo sells it direct for $399 a month, $50 above the standard pen, and it sits above the normal ladder rather than replacing it.
