1 Month Weight Loss Journey With Semaglutide! | Patient POV
Our summary
Jenny, a patient of Barrett Plastic Surgery, documents her first month on semaglutide. She says she has struggled with her weight her whole life and is pre-diabetic. She hopes the medication will reduce her appetite and quiet what she calls food noise. She says her medication arrived at her home in California as four pre-dosed weekly injection pens with an instruction manual, and she chose Sunday as her injection day.

What else the video covers
She describes her first injection as a 2 out of 10 on pain, with a slight sting from the medication. The second dose, on the opposite side of her stomach, she did not feel at all. By the third dose she says the sting returned on the left side, and she suspects she had been injecting into a faded stretch mark, which she says can affect absorption. After two weeks she reports losing 7 lbs from about 310 lbs, a waist measurement drop from 54 inches to 49 inches, less hunger, quieter food noise, and more energy for chores.
She then describes a four to five day plateau at 299 lbs, which she attributes partly to daily weighing and an expected period. At the one month mark she says she weighs 298 lbs, down 12 lbs in total, with her waist at 46 inches. She also says she takes a magnesium supplement and digestive enzymes sold through Barrett Plastic Surgery, and that she feels they have helped. These are her personal experiences, not medical advice.

Our guides closest to what this video covers, with prices checked weekly.
- Semaglutide side effects, and what compounding does and does not change
Semaglutide's side effects are gastrointestinal: nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and constipation, worst early and after each dose increase. Those belong to the molecule, so they are the same whether it came in a Novo Nordisk pen or a compounding pharmacy's vial. What compounding changes is everything around the molecule. A compounded drug is not FDA-approved, so the finished product has not been reviewed for safety, effectiveness or manufacturing quality, and the FDA has said the enforcement discretion that allowed 503A pharmacies to compound semaglutide has ended. It also usually arrives as a vial and a syringe rather than a pre-set pen, which moves dose measurement to you.
- Wegovy 7.2 mg (Wegovy HD): what the higher dose adds, and what it costs
Wegovy HD is semaglutide at 7.2 mg, three times the standard 2.4 mg dose, in its own pen. In the STEP UP trial it took 18.7% off body weight at 72 weeks against 15.6% for 2.4 mg and 3.9% for placebo, in 1,407 adults with obesity. That puts it within 1.5 points of tirzepatide's head-to-head result and makes it the strongest semaglutide there is. Novo sells it direct for $399 a month, $50 above the standard pen, and it sits above the normal ladder rather than replacing it.
- Semaglutide for weight loss: which version, and what each costs
Semaglutide is the molecule. For weight loss the FDA-approved version is Wegovy, sold as a weekly pen and a daily tablet. Ozempic is the same molecule approved for type 2 diabetes, so using it for weight is off-label. Compounded semaglutide is the same molecule from a compounding pharmacy, is not FDA-approved, and is what most cash buyers actually take because it costs a fraction of the brand. All three produce the same side effects. What differs is the approval, the oversight and the price.
