One Year on Semaglutide Changed My Life...

ClinicianBarrett Plastic Surgery18,114 views24:41Dec 2025

Our summary

In this video, a woman who gets her semaglutide through Barrett Plastic Surgery in Beverly Hills compiles a year of progress clips. She says she started at 310 lbs and was at 234 lbs after 12 months, a loss of 76 pounds. Along the way she shares weigh-ins: 258 lbs, then 251, then 247 at about nine months, which she calls her lowest weight in five years. She says she lost about 62 lbs in 8 months and 67 lbs at a later point.

What else the video covers

Much of the video focuses on non-scale changes. She describes flying without a seat belt extender, fitting into a middle airplane seat with both armrests down, swimming with less buoyancy, climbing stairs with less breathlessness, and doing a cartwheel. She also describes joining a 6:00 a.m. Tuesday gym class, going to the gym about 3 days a week, and an InBody scan after a month that she says showed 2% less body fat and 2% more muscle mass while the scale barely moved. She says she moved from 3X clothing to a 2X skirt.

She also covers harder moments. She describes a stretch of emotional eating during a stressful period when her weight stayed flat, and a day when she nearly skipped the gym out of boredom. On food, she says a calorie deficit mattered most for her and that she stopped obsessing over specific macros. On side effects, she reports sulfur burps lasting a day or two after injections, some gas pain at the 1.0 mg dose, and active bowel movements for a few days, with no nausea. She says the medication quieted food noise for her.

Questions this video answers

How much weight did she lose in one year on semaglutide?

She says she started at 310 lbs and weighed 234 lbs after 12 months, which she describes as 76 pounds down. She also reports 62 lbs lost at about 8 months and 247 lbs at around 9 months.

What side effects did she have on semaglutide?

She reports sulfur burps that last a day or two after each injection, occasional gas pain when she reached the 1.0 mg dose, and very active bowel movements for the first few days. She says she did not have nausea and feels lucky about that.

Did she count macros while losing weight on semaglutide?

She says she used to obsess over specific macros but found that being in a calorie deficit was the one consistent change behind her loss. She describes her plate as mostly protein with vegetables or fruit, plus attention to portions and water.

What non-scale changes does she describe after losing weight on semaglutide?

She says she no longer needs a seat belt extender on flights, can climb stairs with less breathlessness, swims with less buoyancy, and fits clothing sizes she could not wear for years. She also says she started a regular gym routine and feels more confident.

Our guides closest to what this video covers, with prices checked weekly.

  • GLP-1 muscle loss: how much of the weight is muscle, and what protects it

On semaglutide or tirzepatide, roughly a quarter to two fifths of the weight you lose is lean mass rather than fat: 25% in tirzepatide's SURMOUNT-1 scan substudy, and 25% to 39% across 20 randomised trials. That share is close to what diet-only weight loss costs. Lean mass is not all muscle, and strength held up in the shorter trials. Resistance training cut the lean share to 17.5% in the pooled trials, and expert groups pair it with enough protein.

  • Tirzepatide vs semaglutide: the head-to-head result, and what the better one costs

They were finally tested against each other. In SURMOUNT-5, 751 adults with obesity took the maximum tolerated dose of one or the other for 72 weeks: tirzepatide lost 20.2% of body weight, semaglutide 13.7%. That gap is real and it is the whole argument for tirzepatide. The other half of the decision is the bill: compounded tirzepatide runs from $85 a month on our board against $69 for semaglutide, and the branded gap is wider still.

  • Semaglutide for weight loss: which version, and what each costs

Semaglutide is the molecule. For weight loss the FDA-approved version is Wegovy, sold as a weekly pen and a daily tablet. Ozempic is the same molecule approved for type 2 diabetes, so using it for weight is off-label. Compounded semaglutide is the same molecule from a compounding pharmacy, is not FDA-approved, and is what most cash buyers actually take because it costs a fraction of the brand. All three produce the same side effects. What differs is the approval, the oversight and the price.
