GLP-1 Injection Site Itching? The Only Fix That Worked for Me
Our summary
In this video, the creator of the Losing It Grace channel describes how she got rid of itching at her injection site while taking weekly tirzepatide. She says she had severe itching no matter which site she used (arm, stomach or thigh), how long the medication sat out, or which cream or antihistamine she tried, including cortisone and Benadryl.
One person's experience, in their words. Not medical advice.

What else the video covers
She explains that at a March checkup she told her provider about the itching, along with insomnia and constipation, which she says she already manages. She did not want another prescription, so her provider suggested one more thing to try. According to the video, she has used it for 6 weeks at the time of filming. The method is a covered cold pack held on the injection site for 10 minutes before the injection and 10 minutes after it. She wraps an ice pack in a paper towel to protect her skin, and uses biker shorts to hold it in place on her stomach. She says the skin turns red from the cold, and that her provider told her this is normal and safe. She uses automatic Zepbound pens and wipes the site with alcohol before and after.
She reports that the itching is gone and she no longer uses cortisone creams or Benadryl sprays. She says injection site redness is still there but smaller, and clears in about a week or less instead of about a month. She states she is not a medical provider, that this is not medical advice, that results may differ for others, and that people should check with their medical team first. She has not tried other durations or injecting straight from the fridge.

Our guides closest to what this video covers, with prices checked weekly.
- Where to inject a GLP-1, and the one thing the labels disagree about
All the weekly GLP-1 injections go into the same three places. The Wegovy label says to inject subcutaneously in the abdomen, thigh or upper arm, rotating sites with each dose, once weekly at any time of day with or without meals. Zepbound's label says the same about the abdomen and thigh but adds something nobody mentions: the back of the upper arm should be injected by another person. If you are on a compounded vial rather than a pen, the task is different again, because you are drawing the dose yourself.
- Do GLP-1 patches work? What the FTC and FDA say, and the real needle-free option
No. No GLP-1 patch is FDA-approved, and the Federal Trade Commission's guidance is direct: "Nothing you can wear or apply to your skin will cause you to lose weight. Period." Patches sold as "GLP-1" are not semaglutide or tirzepatide, which are prescription drugs. If the appeal is avoiding needles, two approved GLP-1 pills exist: the Wegovy pill and Foundayo, both from $149 a month self-pay from their makers.
- Zepbound dosage chart: every tirzepatide dose, the escalation rule, what each rung lost in the trial, and what it costs
Zepbound has six doses, 2.5 to 15 mg, taken once a week. The label's rule is four weeks at 2.5 mg, then 2.5 mg steps with at least four weeks on each, to a maintenance dose of 5, 10 or 15 mg. In SURMOUNT-1 those three doses lost 15.0, 19.5 and 20.9 percent of body weight over 72 weeks. Direct from Lilly each rung has a price, $299 at 2.5 mg rising to $699 at 10 mg and above, so the chart below carries the dose, the rule, the trial result and the bill in one place, plus the vial and KwikPen concentrations for anyone measuring in units.
