Ozempic One Month Update
Our summary
In this one month update, Ashley says she started Ozempic after being diagnosed with diabetes two or three months earlier, and she was unsure how her body would react. She walks through the month week by week. According to her, week one brought only mild nausea, and the end of week one into week two brought a strong sense that her brain was telling her body to stop eating. Week three was harder: she says she mixed up the dose selection on the pen, had to wind it back to zero, and is not sure what dose she received. She felt little of that effect in weeks three and four. She also says cravings continued, so she cannot say the shot has helped with them.

What else the video covers
By the end of week four she noticed she could go long stretches without feeling hungry. She describes a Saturday when she did not eat until about 1:30 p.m., which is unusual for her. She then films her fifth dose, the first at the higher 0.5 dose. She shows checking the medication for clarity, attaching the needle, choosing the injection site on her left arm, watching the dose counter drop to zero, and putting the needle in a sharps container. She says the spot she used last week was sore, but this one was not.
She says she is trying to be patient when she sees others online reporting losses of 50 lbs or 80 lbs. Her goals are to walk more using the Walkfit app, follow a diabetic diet with fewer carbs and sugars and more protein and fiber, and keep up her water intake and family meal planning. She does not show the scale. She reports being down 8.7 lbs, from a starting weight of 306 lbs to 297.8 lbs.

- How long do Ozempic, Wegovy and Zepbound take to work? The label calendar and the trial timepoints
GLP-1s act from the first dose, but the labels start low on purpose and step up every 4 weeks, so most people do not reach a full dose for 3 to 5 months. Each dose reaches steady levels in the blood after about 4 to 5 weeks. In the trials, people averaged 10.6% weight loss after 20 weeks of Wegovy's escalation and 20.9% after 36 weeks of Zepbound, with the full trial results at 68 to 72 weeks. For type 2 diabetes, Ozempic's A1C results were measured at week 30.
- Ozempic side effects, and the ones that actually make people stop
The common Ozempic side effects are gastrointestinal: nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and constipation. They cluster in the first weeks and after each dose increase, which is why the drug is titrated slowly rather than started at the dose that does the work. Ozempic also carries a boxed warning for thyroid C-cell tumour risk, and the label for Wegovy, the same molecule, advises against combining it with another GLP-1. The practical thing nobody tells you: most people who quit do it during titration, and what decides whether that costs them money is the seller's pause and refund terms, not the sticker price.
- Mounjaro vs Ozempic, and the trial everyone quotes about it
Mounjaro is tirzepatide and Ozempic is semaglutide: different molecules, not two brands of the same drug. Both are approved for type 2 diabetes, and the weight-loss versions are Zepbound and Wegovy. In the one head-to-head trial, SURMOUNT-5, tirzepatide produced 20.2% mean body-weight loss at 72 weeks against semaglutide's 13.7%. The detail almost every page omits: that trial dosed semaglutide to 2.4 mg in people without diabetes, which is the Wegovy range. Ozempic tops out at 2 mg. The famous result did not test Ozempic's dose range.
