MOUNJARO UK | MY WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY SO FAR | How I Transformed My Life In 6 Months

Patient storyJimigemstar22,033 views23:51May 2025

Our summary

Jem, a 42-year-old from northwest England who posts as Jimigemstar, marks six months on Mounjaro (she says "Marjaro" in the captions) in this standalone video. She started on 7 November and recorded on 7 May. She says she went from 15 stone (210 lb, 95.25 kg) to 10 stone 13 (153 lb, 69.4 kg) as of the previous week's weigh-in, a loss of 4 stone 1 lb. Her next weigh-in, week 26, was due the following day.

What else the video covers

Most of the video covers non-scale victories, which she says matter because weight can stall or rise for reasons such as water, carbs, sodium or hormones. She lists inch losses in her four-weekly measurements, a drop from a UK size 18 to roughly a 12 to 14, rings and seat belt fitting differently, a clearer and more positive mind, more confidence, and more energy for exercise and playing with her son. She also reports clearer skin, fewer dry patches, less excess chin hair and milder, less painful periods linked to her PCOS, and no more joint pain or knee clicking.

She then explains why she thinks her side effects are minimal. She reports only occasional heartburn and some constipation, which she attributes to low fibre and manages with psyllium husk and magnesium citrate. She credits her diet (protein and fibre focus, no food groups cut, few takeaways), plenty of water and slower dose increases. She says she is now on 7.5 mg after going from 2.5 mg to 5 mg to 7.5 mg and back to 5 mg. She says she is not a health professional and is only sharing personal experience. Her goal is to lose about another stone and six pounds, and she plans to come off the medication gradually.

  1. 0:35 Jem says she has gone from 15 stone to 10 stone 13 in six months on Mounjaro, a loss of 4 stone 1 lb.
  2. 1:43 She argues non-scale victories matter because plateaus and gains can have many causes, and she tracks measurements every four weeks.
  3. 2:43 She reports dropping from a UK size 18 to about a 12 to 14, along with looser rings and a better-fitting seat belt.
  4. 6:17 She describes mood, concentration, confidence, energy, skin, PCOS symptoms and joint pain as improved, and credits the weight loss rather than the drug itself.
  5. 12:52 She reports only occasional heartburn and some constipation, which she manages with more fibre, psyllium husk and magnesium citrate.
  6. 18:32 She attributes her mild side effects partly to slower dose increases and says she is now on 7.5 mg after moving back down from 7.5 mg to 5 mg.

  • Mounjaro for weight loss, and why Zepbound exists

Mounjaro is tirzepatide approved for type 2 diabetes. Zepbound is the same molecule from the same maker, approved for weight management, and it goes to the same 15 mg. So unlike Ozempic and Wegovy, there is no dose ceiling pushing you from one to the other: the reason people move is coverage and cash price, not strength. Using Mounjaro for weight is off-label and a prescriber's decision. In the one head-to-head trial, tirzepatide beat semaglutide, 20.2% mean body-weight loss at 72 weeks against 13.7%.

  • Mounjaro side effects: the label's numbers by dose, the low blood sugar risk, and how tirzepatide compares at weight-loss doses

On Mounjaro's own label, the common side effects are stomach ones and they rise with the dose: nausea in 12, 15 and 18 percent of people at 5, 10 and 15 mg against 4 percent on placebo, diarrhea 12 to 17 against 9, and any gastrointestinal reaction in 37 to 44 percent against 20. Most of it happens while the dose is being raised and fades. Low blood sugar is rare on Mounjaro alone and is mainly a risk when it is added to insulin or a sulfonylurea. Below: the full table, the rare warnings, and why Zepbound's numbers for the same molecule look higher.

  • Mounjaro vs Ozempic, and the trial everyone quotes about it

Mounjaro is tirzepatide and Ozempic is semaglutide: different molecules, not two brands of the same drug. Both are approved for type 2 diabetes, and the weight-loss versions are Zepbound and Wegovy. In the one head-to-head trial, SURMOUNT-5, tirzepatide produced 20.2% mean body-weight loss at 72 weeks against semaglutide's 13.7%. The detail almost every page omits: that trial dosed semaglutide to 2.4 mg in people without diabetes, which is the Wegovy range. Ozempic tops out at 2 mg. The famous result did not test Ozempic's dose range.
