1 Year on GLP-1 (Tirzepatide/Mounjaro): 52 Things That Actually Happened

ClinicianNP on a GLP96,920 views18:57May 2026

Our summary

Carrie, a nurse practitioner, marks one year on tirzepatide by listing 52 things that happened, one per week. She says she started on May 2, 2025 at 202.2 lb, lost 55 lb, and now sits at 147 lb in a maintenance range of 145 to 150 lb, with a BMI around 23. She originally set a goal of 170 lb, then lowered it to 150 lb after the medication quieted what she calls food noise. She notes this is her personal story and not medical advice.

What else the video covers

The first group of items covers clothing and appearance: shopping in regular stores, ordering clothes online without trying them on, narrower feet, a wedding ring sized down two sizes, and being comfortable in photos and swimsuits. The second group covers function and health. She says she walks uphill more easily, is less bothered by heat, has less joint pain, and no longer snores. As a clinician, she reports blood pressure consistently under 120 over 80, low fasting insulin, an optimal triglyceride to HDL ratio, a lower thyroid medication dose, and better gum health. She also says her hair is growing back after thinning.

The food items include fewer junk food cravings, shopping only from a list, smaller restaurant portions, and no weight gain on a cruise. She also drinks little alcohol now. The seven downsides she lists are loose skin on her neck, less padding when sitting, feeling cold often, a dry right eye, the cost of a new wardrobe, a sagging look in her lower body, and a doctor who made a judgmental comment about GLP-1 use. She closes by saying she has not missed a shot and encourages viewers in the early weeks.

Questions this video answers

How much weight did she lose in one year on tirzepatide?

Carrie says she lost 55 lb over one year, going from 202.2 lb on May 2, 2025 to 147 lb. She says she is now in a maintenance range of 145 to 150 lb with a BMI around 23.

What are the downsides of tirzepatide after a year?

She lists loose skin at her neck, less padding when sitting, feeling cold much of the time, and a persistent dry right eye. She also mentions the expense of replacing her wardrobe and being judged by a doctor for taking a GLP-1.

Can tirzepatide change blood pressure and lab results?

Carrie reports that her blood pressure is consistently below 120 over 80, her fasting insulin is low, and her triglyceride to HDL ratio is optimal. She also says her thyroid medication dose was lowered by her provider. These are her own results and not medical advice.

Our guides closest to what this video covers, with prices checked weekly.

  • GLP-1 muscle loss: how much of the weight is muscle, and what protects it

On semaglutide or tirzepatide, roughly a quarter to two fifths of the weight you lose is lean mass rather than fat: 25% in tirzepatide's SURMOUNT-1 scan substudy, and 25% to 39% across 20 randomised trials. That share is close to what diet-only weight loss costs. Lean mass is not all muscle, and strength held up in the shorter trials. Resistance training cut the lean share to 17.5% in the pooled trials, and expert groups pair it with enough protein.

  • Tirzepatide vs semaglutide: the head-to-head result, and what the better one costs

They were finally tested against each other. In SURMOUNT-5, 751 adults with obesity took the maximum tolerated dose of one or the other for 72 weeks: tirzepatide lost 20.2% of body weight, semaglutide 13.7%. That gap is real and it is the whole argument for tirzepatide. The other half of the decision is the bill: compounded tirzepatide runs from $85 a month on our board against $69 for semaglutide, and the branded gap is wider still.

  • Retatrutide: up to 28.3% weight loss in trials, no FDA approval yet, and no legal way to buy it today

Retatrutide is Eli Lilly's experimental weekly injection that acts on three hormone receptors (GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon). In the phase 3 TRIUMPH-1 trial, people on the 12 mg dose lost 28.3% of their weight at 80 weeks by Lilly's efficacy measure (25.0% counting everyone randomized). It is not FDA-approved, has no price, and cannot legally be sold. Lilly plans to file with FDA in Q1 2027. Tirzepatide is the closest thing you can buy now, compounded from $85 a month on our board.
