One year of Ozempic and PCOS
Our summary
Marlaena, who says she is 48 and has PCOS and thyroid disease, gives an update after one year on Ozempic. She notes it has been a hard year: she reports three surgeries (carpal and cubital tunnel surgery on her right wrist and elbow, a uterine ablation in April four weeks after having Covid in March, and left hand carpal tunnel surgery the week before filming). Her husband was also injured at work and has been off work for eight weeks.

What else the video covers
On the medication itself, she says her weight went from 195 pounds to 149 pounds at a height of five foot one. She says she is in perimenopause and credits the uterine ablation with helping some of those symptoms, but she also reports a marked change in her PCOS symptoms on Ozempic beyond weight loss. She describes less inflammation and a better disposition, saying she does not get angry as quickly.
She says she has not had full blood work done yet and expects it at her endocrinologist appointment in November. She says she likes that he goes by what patients tell him rather than focusing only on numbers. She then asks viewers with PCOS to comment on whether they have had carpal tunnel and what their profession is, since none of the hairstylists she works with have it and she wonders about a link with inflammation. She closes by encouraging viewers to talk to their doctor if they feel they are not getting help.

- The Ozempic lawsuit: what the court has actually decided, and what happens next
The Ozempic lawsuits are not one class action. They are personal injury cases grouped as MDL No. 3094 in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania before Judge Karen S. Marston, alleging gastrointestinal injuries from Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro and other GLP-1 drugs. In August 2025 the court reported more than 2,400 cases and ruled that drug-induced gastroparesis claims need a gastric emptying study. A hearing on causation and warnings ran in September 2026. Vision-loss (NAION) cases sit in a second MDL, No. 3163.
- GLP-1s for PCOS: what the guideline allows, what the trials show, and what it costs
No GLP-1 is FDA approved for PCOS. The 2023 International PCOS Guideline says liraglutide and semaglutide could be considered for higher weight in adults with PCOS, alongside lifestyle changes. The trials agree on weight: a 2026 review of 11 randomized trials showed a modest BMI drop. Effects on periods, hair growth and hormones are less certain, and the guideline keeps fertility use to research settings. Stop semaglutide 2 months before trying to conceive.
- Ozempic side effects, and the ones that actually make people stop
The common Ozempic side effects are gastrointestinal: nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and constipation. They cluster in the first weeks and after each dose increase, which is why the drug is titrated slowly rather than started at the dose that does the work. Ozempic also carries a boxed warning for thyroid C-cell tumour risk, and the label for Wegovy, the same molecule, advises against combining it with another GLP-1. The practical thing nobody tells you: most people who quit do it during titration, and what decides whether that costs them money is the seller's pause and refund terms, not the sticker price.
