12 Months on Mounjaro- I'm Done
Our summary
Dr Emma Anders marks 12 months on Mounjaro and says her own weight loss phase is finished. She explains that the bigger win for her is mental freedom from food rules, constant body checking and weighing. She describes a dinner with friends where she realised she did not know her total loss, because the batteries in her scale had run out weeks earlier and she had not replaced them. She says she follows no food rules, eats mindfully and is no longer thinking about dieting.

What else the video covers
She says she takes 2.5 mg of Mounjaro, the dose she has used throughout, and plans to stay on it long term to keep the health benefits she has covered in earlier videos, including help with her acne rosacea. She names cost and access as the only downsides, since it is not available to her through the NHS. She says she does not worry about long-term risks compared with the health problems she had before. She rules out microdosing and using pens past their expiry, and she criticises people who change their dosing based on internet advice once they grow confident or bored as the novelty fades.
In the last section she shares professional news. She says she gave an interview for a BBC documentary on GLP-1s and received approval from the UK medical regulator for her own online consultation clinic, which opens on Monday 20 October. She says the clinic offers one-to-one consultations rather than medication, with a partnered Manchester pharmacy available. She has also returned to part-time NHS work. She adds that her situation could change if side effects or other problems appear, and she says she would share that too.

Questions this video answers
What dose of Mounjaro does Dr Emma Anders take after 12 months?
She says she takes 2.5 mg, the same dose she has used throughout her weight loss. She says she gets the maximum benefit at that dose with no side effects, and plans to stay on it long term.
Does Dr Emma Anders recommend microdosing Mounjaro?
She says she will not microdose, because a reduced dose has not been studied and tested, and she values health over saving money. She also says she would not use a pen past its expiry, as there are no studies on that. She presents this as her own view.
Why do people change their GLP-1 dose after several months, according to this video?
She says people grow more confident with the medication and start tweaking their dosing based on what they see online. She also says the novelty and dopamine of the early months fades, so some feel they are not progressing even when they still are.
What is Dr Emma Anders' new clinic?
She says it is an online remote clinic offering one-to-one consultations on weight management and GLP-1s, approved by the UK medical regulator. She says it opens on Monday 20 October and does not itself supply medication, though she has partnered with a pharmacy in Manchester.

- Mounjaro for weight loss, and why Zepbound exists
Mounjaro is tirzepatide approved for type 2 diabetes. Zepbound is the same molecule from the same maker, approved for weight management, and it goes to the same 15 mg. So unlike Ozempic and Wegovy, there is no dose ceiling pushing you from one to the other: the reason people move is coverage and cash price, not strength. Using Mounjaro for weight is off-label and a prescriber's decision. In the one head-to-head trial, tirzepatide beat semaglutide, 20.2% mean body-weight loss at 72 weeks against 13.7%.
- Stopping a GLP-1: what the withdrawal trials found, and what a maintenance dose actually is
Two trials have measured what happens when you stop. On semaglutide, people who lost 17.3% over 68 weeks regained two-thirds of it in the year after stopping, ending 5.6% below where they started. On tirzepatide, people who lost 20.9% in 36 weeks regained 14% over the next year on placebo while those who continued lost a further 5.5%. Both labels are explicit that these drugs are for maintaining weight reduction long term, which is a different claim from finishing a course. A maintenance dose is simply the dose you stay on; the labels do not define a lower one to step down to at goal.
- How to get Mounjaro: the diabetes route, and why the weight route is a different box
Mounjaro is approved for type 2 diabetes in adults and children from 10, and Lilly's own site says it is not a weight-loss drug. With a diabetes diagnosis, any prescriber can write it and a commercial plan that covers it brings it to $25 with Lilly's card. Without diabetes, a prescriber can write it off-label, but no insurer will cover it and LillyDirect self-pay starts at $499 a month, against a list price of $1,112.16 per fill. The same tirzepatide in the Zepbound box is approved for weight, plan-coverable, and sold direct for $299 to $699.
