Best Ozempic Injection Sites
Our summary
According to the video from the Nursing Bizness channel, there are three main places to inject Ozempic: the abdomen, the upper thigh and the upper arm. The speaker says the abdomen is the most popular site because it is easy to reach and is often less painful, which she links to the amount of fat tissue in the belly. For this site she describes choosing an area about two inches from the belly button and pinching a section of fat before injecting.

What else the video covers
For the thigh, the speaker says to pick a spot halfway between the knee and hip, shifted toward the outside of the leg, and to pinch the fat in the same way. She says to avoid the inner thigh because of the network of blood vessels there. She calls the upper arm her least favorite option for self-injection because it is hard to do alone, but says it works well when another person gives the injection. The needle goes into the back of the arm, about halfway between the elbow and shoulder, and she says thinner or more toned people may need to pinch the skin to reach fat.
The speaker then shares what she calls secrets. She says the body absorbs the medication at different speeds depending on the site: fastest from the abdomen, moderate from the upper arm and slowest from the thigh. She suggests that people new to Ozempic who have nausea or diarrhea may want to try the thigh or upper arm. She also says switching injection sites has helped some people whose medication seemed to stop working as well, though not everyone. She admits she is not sure why this helps.

Our guides closest to what this video covers, with prices checked weekly.
- Where to inject a GLP-1, and the one thing the labels disagree about
All the weekly GLP-1 injections go into the same three places. The Wegovy label says to inject subcutaneously in the abdomen, thigh or upper arm, rotating sites with each dose, once weekly at any time of day with or without meals. Zepbound's label says the same about the abdomen and thigh but adds something nobody mentions: the back of the upper arm should be injected by another person. If you are on a compounded vial rather than a pen, the task is different again, because you are drawing the dose yourself.
- “Ozempic butt” is not a side effect either
“Ozempic butt” describes loss of volume and sagging skin around the buttocks after fast weight loss. Like “Ozempic face”, it is not a listed adverse effect and not something the drug does to that area specifically. Fat leaves everywhere when you lose fat, including where you would rather it stayed, and skin that loses volume quickly does not always retract to match. It follows large rapid weight loss from any cause. The two things you influence are how fast you lose and whether you can afford to stay on a steady dose instead of stopping and rebounding.
- How to get Ozempic online: the prescription, the pen or the pill, and what each route costs
You can get Ozempic online, but only with a prescription, and a telehealth clinician can write one after a video or questionnaire visit. Ozempic is approved for type 2 diabetes, so a plan that covers it brings it to $25 a month with Novo's card. Without coverage, Novo's own pharmacy sells the pen from $199 for two starter fills, then $349 to $499, and the new Ozempic pill from $149. For weight loss alone, Wegovy or compounded semaglutide from $69 usually fits better.
