Paying month to month, Hims and Ro cost the same, as of October 2026. Each charges a membership on top of the drug, discounted for the first month and then $149 a month, and each lists the same starting drug prices.14 The starting Wegovy pill, for example, is $149 at both, so the all-in bill after month one is the pill plus the $149 membership at either.
Ro gets cheaper only if you prepay. Ro's membership drops to $74 a month on a 12-month plan, paid as $888 up front, which takes the starting Wegovy pill to $223 a month all in.12 The Hims pages we read show no prepaid membership.46
We partner with neither. Ro is a program we track and keep off the board because it is not a partner right now; Hims is not tracked. Everything below is read off their own pages on October 5, 2026, and the cheaper routes at the end are partner programs.
The membership, side by side
Both put the fee and the drug on separate bills. Hims states its terms in one line:4
An active Hims Weight Loss Membership is required ($39 for the first month, auto-renews at $149/month thereafter). Membership is billed separately and does not include or guarantee a prescription.

Ro's are the same for month to month, with longer prepaid plans on top:1
The Ro Body membership costs $39 for the first month and as low as $74/month when you prepay for an annual plan. If you stay on a monthly plan, the ongoing cost is $149/month.

The drug, side by side
Ro says its cash prices match the manufacturers' own self-pay programs, and the starting prices Hims lists are the same numbers.24 Hims shows a "from" price per drug; Ro shows each dose.
| Drug, cash price per month | Hims | Ro |
|---|---|---|
| Wegovy pill | From $1494 | $149 at 1.5 mg, $199 at 4 mg, $299 at 9 and 25 mg2 |
| Wegovy pen | From $1994 | $199 for the first two fills at 0.25 and 0.5 mg, then $349 from 1 mg to 2.4 mg2 |
| Zepbound KwikPen | From $2994 | $299 at 2.5 mg, $399 at 5 mg, $449 from 7.5 mg2 |
| Zepbound vial | From $2994 | Not on its pricing page |
| Foundayo pill | From $1494 | From $1492 |
What you pay each month, all in
Adding the two bills for the starting pill, after the first month:
| Starting pill plus membership | Hims | Ro |
|---|---|---|
| Month to month | $298/mo | $298/mo |
| Membership prepaid for 12 months | No such plan | $223/mo, with $888 of membership paid up front |
Climb the dose and the two may part ways: Ro publishes each step, while Hims shows only the starting price on the pages we read, so the higher doses at Hims are a number to ask for before you sign up.
Where they differ beyond price
- Insurance. Ro checks your coverage for Ozempic, Wegovy and Zepbound pens and handles the paperwork, through an insurance concierge included in the membership.3 Hims says insurance is not required and describes no insurance check on the pages we read.5
- HSA and FSA. Hims says the medication fee is FSA/HSA eligible and the membership fee is not.5 Ro's pricing page does not say.
- Care. Ro's membership includes 1:1 provider messaging, regular check-ins, coaching and lab testing if necessary.3 Hims lists 24/7 messaging with providers and monthly follow-ups with its Care Team.6
- When you are charged. Ro says it charges the membership only if you are eligible and refunds the $39 if you are not.13 Hims bills the $39 at checkout and says the membership does not guarantee a prescription.46
- Cancelling. Hims says you can cancel any time, and that cancelling the membership also cancels any active medication plan.6 Ro's pricing page does not set out cancellation terms for its prepaid plans; ask before prepaying.
- States. Hims says it is not available in all 50 states.4 Ro's pricing page does not list states.
- Reviews. On Trustpilot, Ro scores 4.0 from 6,932 reviews and Hims 2.9 from 9,484, both read October 5, 2026. Each profile covers the company's whole business, not only weight loss.78
- Regulatory record. In September 2025 FDA sent Hims a warning letter over claims about its compounded semaglutide, finding them "false or misleading".9 The Hims weight-loss page we read lists branded drugs.
Which should you choose
- You will pay month to month: there is no price difference at the starting doses. Choose on insurance help, care and cancellation terms above.
- You can commit for a year: Ro, whose prepaid membership is the only way either one gets cheaper.
- You have insurance that might cover a GLP-1: Ro, which runs the coverage check for you.3
- You want to pay from an HSA or FSA: Hims says its medication fee qualifies; confirm with your plan.5
- You want the same drug for less: neither. See below.
The cheaper route for the same drugs
The membership is what separates both of these from the cheapest options. Among the partner programs we track, the cheapest Wegovy pill costs $208 a month all in, membership included, which is $90 less than the month-to-month total at Hims or Ro. The cheapest Zepbound is $358 all in. If a compounded drug is acceptable to you and your prescriber, compounded semaglutide starts at $69 a month and compounded tirzepatide at $119; compounded drugs are not FDA-approved.
The full rankings are cheapest Wegovy, cheapest Zepbound, cheapest semaglutide and cheapest tirzepatide. Our best-of page picks one program per kind of buyer. Ro's own record, with every price we have read off its site, stays on Ro's page and is Ro legit.
