Yes, Hims is legit: Hims & Hers is a real, licensed telehealth company, and as of October 2026 its weight-loss program sells FDA-approved brand-name GLP-1s, with the Wegovy pill starting at $149 a month for the medication plus a $149 monthly membership on its own site. "Legit" and "good value" are different questions, though, and on value the answer is less flattering. Below: what it sells and what it really costs, what its reviews say, its FDA record, and what the same drugs cost elsewhere.
We do not track or partner with Hims, so we cannot link to it, and nothing here is a Hims price we verify weekly; it is what Hims's own pages said on 5 October 2026. The cheaper options further down are partner programs that pay us a commission when you sign up through us (how that works). Every ranking on this site is ordered by price alone.
What Hims sells for weight loss, and what it costs
Hims's own FAQ lists the range: "Hims offers access to an affordable range of FDA-approved GLP-1 medications, including the Wegovy® Pill, Wegovy® Pen, Zepbound® KwikPen®, Zepbound® Vial, Foundayo™ Pill, and Ozempic® Pill."2 We found no compounded GLP-1 on its weight-loss pages on 5 October 2026, and its old compounded-semaglutide address now opens the general weight-loss page.
Every price Hims shows is the medication alone, quoted as "starts at" in its own comparison table.2 The membership sits on top: "An active Hims Weight Loss Membership is required ($39 for the first month, auto-renews at $149/month thereafter)."1 So the real monthly cost is the two added together:
| Hims option | Medication, "starts at" | Membership | Month 2 onward, all in |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wegovy pill (semaglutide) | $149/mo | $149/mo | $298/mo |
| Foundayo pill (orforglipron) | $149/mo | $149/mo | $298/mo |
| Wegovy pen (semaglutide) | $199/mo | $149/mo | $348/mo |
| Zepbound vial or KwikPen (tirzepatide) | $299/mo | $149/mo | $448/mo |
Those are starting prices, at the lowest dose. Hims says so itself: "Dosage and titration vary based on provider discretion. Pricing may vary by dosage."3 The first month is cheaper because the membership is $39, not $149.
- Insurance: not required, and its pages describe a cash program.
- Cancelling: allowed any time, with a catch in its own words: "canceling your membership will also cancel any active medication plan and access to care through the platform."3
- Where: "Not available in all 50 states. Prescription required."1 Hims does not list the states on the pages we read.
- Who prescribes: "A state-licensed provider reviews the health history, weight loss goals, and unique patient needs of every individual patient to see if they qualify before prescribing any kind of treatment."3
What the reviews say
On Trustpilot, Hims scores 2.9 out of 5 across 9,484 reviews (read 5 October 2026).4 Two things to know before leaning on that number. It covers all of Hims, including hair loss, sexual health and skin care, not only weight loss. And Trustpilot labels the profile "Claimed" and "Paid Trustpilot subscription", and says Hims asks its customers for reviews.
Trustpilot's own summary of recent reviews says buyers find the ordering simple and convenient, and that the common complaints are reaching customer support and monthly membership and prescription pricing that can feel expensive or confusing. That second complaint matches the table above: the headline price is never the whole price.
The regulatory record
FDA sent two warning letters dated 9 September 2025, one to Hims & Hers Health, Inc. dba Hims and one to the same company dba Hers.56 Both concern compounded semaglutide. FDA said it reviewed hims.com in August 2025 and objected to two claims on it, "Same active ingredient as Ozempic and Wegovy" and "Clinically proven ingredients", writing:
Compounded drug products are not FDA-approved. Your claims imply that your products are the same as an FDA-approved product when they are not. As a result, these claims are false or misleading and your products are therefore misbranded
FDA warning letter to Hims, 9 September 2025
Read that for what it is. A warning letter is FDA's allegation and a request to fix something; it is not a court finding, a fine or a ban, and Hims kept operating. Our copy of FDA's warning-letter list, last refreshed 3 October 2026, shows no close-out letter posted for either. The letter was about how compounded products were marketed, and as of October 2026 Hims's weight-loss pages sell brand-name drugs instead.
We found no LegitScript seal or certification claim on the Hims pages we read, and LegitScript's public checker would not render for us, so we cannot say either way. Run that check yourself; our ten-minute legitimacy checklist shows how.
Who Hims suits
- It suits you if you want a brand-name, FDA-approved drug, you value one app for prescription, refills and messaging, and $298 a month or more is within budget.
- It does not suit you if price is the deciding factor. The membership alone is $149 a month after the first month, before any medication.
- It does not suit you if you want compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide: Hims's weight-loss pages do not list either today.
How Hims's price compares with the programs we track
Same drugs, all-in monthly prices, membership fees included, read off each partner program's own page:
- Wegovy pill: Hims about $298 a month from month two; the cheapest partner program we track, $208. That is $90 a month less.
- Wegovy pen: Hims about $348; cheapest partner, $208.
- Zepbound: Hims about $448; cheapest partner, $358.
- Compounded semaglutide, which Hims no longer lists: from $69 a month. It is not FDA-approved; what that means.
The semaglutide programs we track, brand-name and compounded, ranked cheapest first:
The full list is on the cheapest semaglutide page, the no-needles options are on the cheapest semaglutide pill page, and our pick for each kind of buyer is on the best programs page.
