I Tried Mounjaro 7.5 mg for 7 Weeks — Here’s What Happened

Patient storyReset with Anissa21,824 views7:24Oct 2025

Our summary

Anissa, who runs the channel Reset with Anissa, reviews her first seven weeks on Mounjaro 7.5 mg. She says she moved up from 5 mg to steady her morning glucose and to see more consistent weekly weight loss, not to lose weight faster. She says the higher dose cut her food cravings, as she hoped, but it suppressed her appetite more than she expected. She reports never feeling hungry, having to watch the clock to remember to eat, and going six to eight hours without food or drink. She also says she has had no fatigue on 7.5 mg, whereas 5 mg made her tired at first.

What else the video covers

On glucose, she says her average daily reading was 353 when she started in May and is now 82. She reports a morning reading of 99 in her previous video, the first time it had been under 100 during this process. She says she has never used insulin and no longer needs metformin. On weight, she says she weighed 184 lbs at her first 7.5 mg injection on August 1st and 173 lbs at the eighth injection on October 3rd, a loss of 11 lbs, or just over 1.3 lbs per week. She describes herself as a moderate responder and says her smart scale shows muscle loss, so she now does three strength workouts a week plus lunchtime walks, aiming for body recomposition. Her goals are 150 lbs and about 25% body fat, down from 35%.

She describes her nutrition as 91 to 105 grams of protein a day, about 30 grams of carbs, and healthy fats at each meal. Her main lesson is that a higher dose does not mean faster loss, and that low appetite makes nutrient-dense eating more important. She says dose changes depend on how each body reacts.

Questions this video answers

How much weight did she lose on Mounjaro 7.5 mg?

Anissa says she weighed 184 lbs at her first 7.5 mg injection on August 1st and 173 lbs at her eighth injection on October 3rd. That is 11 lbs over about 8 weeks, which she puts at just over 1.3 lbs per week.

Does Mounjaro 7.5 mg cause fatigue?

Anissa says she has had no fatigue on 7.5 mg and feels she has more energy. She contrasts this with 5 mg, which she says made her tired at first.

Does a higher Mounjaro dose mean faster weight loss?

According to Anissa, no. She says she did not lose weight faster at 7.5 mg and that people should not expect faster loss from a higher dose. She adds that stronger appetite suppression means she has to be more careful about nutrition.

How did Mounjaro 7.5 mg affect her blood sugar?

She says her average daily glucose was 353 when she began in May and is 82 now. She also says she has never used insulin and no longer takes metformin.

  • Mounjaro for weight loss, and why Zepbound exists

Mounjaro is tirzepatide approved for type 2 diabetes. Zepbound is the same molecule from the same maker, approved for weight management, and it goes to the same 15 mg. So unlike Ozempic and Wegovy, there is no dose ceiling pushing you from one to the other: the reason people move is coverage and cash price, not strength. Using Mounjaro for weight is off-label and a prescriber's decision. In the one head-to-head trial, tirzepatide beat semaglutide, 20.2% mean body-weight loss at 72 weeks against 13.7%.

  • Mounjaro vs Ozempic, and the trial everyone quotes about it

Mounjaro is tirzepatide and Ozempic is semaglutide: different molecules, not two brands of the same drug. Both are approved for type 2 diabetes, and the weight-loss versions are Zepbound and Wegovy. In the one head-to-head trial, SURMOUNT-5, tirzepatide produced 20.2% mean body-weight loss at 72 weeks against semaglutide's 13.7%. The detail almost every page omits: that trial dosed semaglutide to 2.4 mg in people without diabetes, which is the Wegovy range. Ozempic tops out at 2 mg. The famous result did not test Ozempic's dose range.

  • Mounjaro side effects: the label's numbers by dose, the low blood sugar risk, and how tirzepatide compares at weight-loss doses

On Mounjaro's own label, the common side effects are stomach ones and they rise with the dose: nausea in 12, 15 and 18 percent of people at 5, 10 and 15 mg against 4 percent on placebo, diarrhea 12 to 17 against 9, and any gastrointestinal reaction in 37 to 44 percent against 20. Most of it happens while the dose is being raised and fades. Low blood sugar is rare on Mounjaro alone and is mainly a risk when it is added to insulin or a sulfonylurea. Below: the full table, the rare warnings, and why Zepbound's numbers for the same molecule look higher.
