2 Weeks On Mounjaro
Our summary
In this video, Lauren Brazee gives a two-week update on taking Mounjaro. She says it has been 14 days since she started, and that she has lost about three and a half pounds this week. She reports a weigh-in of 327 pounds the day before and 330 on the morning of filming. She says she has lost 30 pounds since a doctor's appointment around September 11th, when her blood pressure was high, and that it is now around 126 over 65. She also says she is exercising and eating better.

What else the video covers
Brazee explains why she started before the new year: in the past she has waited until January and then eaten as much as possible beforehand. She says she had a piece of cake at her daughter's birthday and is still losing weight. She contrasts this with keto, which she found hard to sustain because she loves bread. She also describes feeling better physically, with more ability to play with her kids and handle the stairs in her house, and says she is seeing the biggest change in her belly, chest and neck. She weighs herself daily to stay accountable.
She mentions side effects and observations. She has been itchy on her back and chest for a couple of weeks, with no rash, and does not know if it is related to the medication, laundry detergent, sweat or anxiety. She plans to ask her doctor. She also says her energy dips on days five and six before her weekly shot and improves after she takes it. She says she is unsure whether she can refill the prescription in a couple of weeks. The video includes a sponsored segment for Every Plate and some personal talk about a concert trip.

- Mounjaro for weight loss, and why Zepbound exists
Mounjaro is tirzepatide approved for type 2 diabetes. Zepbound is the same molecule from the same maker, approved for weight management, and it goes to the same 15 mg. So unlike Ozempic and Wegovy, there is no dose ceiling pushing you from one to the other: the reason people move is coverage and cash price, not strength. Using Mounjaro for weight is off-label and a prescriber's decision. In the one head-to-head trial, tirzepatide beat semaglutide, 20.2% mean body-weight loss at 72 weeks against 13.7%.
- Mounjaro side effects: the label's numbers by dose, the low blood sugar risk, and how tirzepatide compares at weight-loss doses
On Mounjaro's own label, the common side effects are stomach ones and they rise with the dose: nausea in 12, 15 and 18 percent of people at 5, 10 and 15 mg against 4 percent on placebo, diarrhea 12 to 17 against 9, and any gastrointestinal reaction in 37 to 44 percent against 20. Most of it happens while the dose is being raised and fades. Low blood sugar is rare on Mounjaro alone and is mainly a risk when it is added to insulin or a sulfonylurea. Below: the full table, the rare warnings, and why Zepbound's numbers for the same molecule look higher.
- Mounjaro vs Ozempic, and the trial everyone quotes about it
Mounjaro is tirzepatide and Ozempic is semaglutide: different molecules, not two brands of the same drug. Both are approved for type 2 diabetes, and the weight-loss versions are Zepbound and Wegovy. In the one head-to-head trial, SURMOUNT-5, tirzepatide produced 20.2% mean body-weight loss at 72 weeks against semaglutide's 13.7%. The detail almost every page omits: that trial dosed semaglutide to 2.4 mg in people without diabetes, which is the Wegovy range. Ozempic tops out at 2 mg. The famous result did not test Ozempic's dose range.
